Jehovah's Witness convention next weekend

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- The free 2012 “Safeguard Your Heart!” District Convention of the Jehovah’s Witness will begin Friday in the Jersey City Assembly Hall.

 

An estimated 2,500 people from Staten Island, Bayonne and Jersey City will meet at the hall over four weekends for the Bible-based convention given in English, Spanish and Romanian.

 Throughout the United States, there will be 385 conventions in 103 cities. Worldwide, there are over 7.6 million Witnesses in more than 109,000 congregations.

 The convention theme “Safeguard Your Heart!” is based on Proverbs 4:23. Strengthening one’s spirituality will be the focus of discussions, dramatic Bible readings and presentations and a play.

 The event, supported by free-will donations, will begin at 9:20 a.m. on Friday. 

 

HEALING SERVICES

 

The Rev. Loyda Morales, rector, will officiate at a Healing Service and Laying on of Hands at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow in St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church located at 7516 Amboy Rd. in Tottenville. For information, call the church at 718-984-1722.

 Monsignor Jeffrey P. Conway, pastor, will hold a Healing Service Sept. 4 at 3:30 p.m. in Our Lady Star of the Sea R.C. Church at 5411 Amboy Rd. in Huguenot. He also will celebrate a Healing Mass on Sept. 18 at 8 p.m., with Praise and Worship beginning at 7:30 p.m. Anyone in need of spiritual, emotional or physical healing is welcome to attend. BOOK SIGNING 

 

Dr. Delores Lundy, pastor, and her husband, Dr. Charles Lundy, of New Dimension Christian Center, are hosting a religious book signing on Aug. 25 at 2 p.m. in Building P at Snug Harbor Cultural Center and Botanical Gardens in Livingston.

 Books include: “View From My Window,” co-authored by Mrs. Lundy and her daughter, Dr. Jennifer Lundy; “Pores Deep” by Dr. M. Maynard, and “Church Folk Going to Hell in a Hand Basket” by A. Davis, Mrs. Lundy and Dr. Maynard.
