Costa Rica Backpacking & Jehovah’s Witnesses?

Costa Rica Backpacking & Jehovah's Witnesses?

http://www.costaricantimes.com/costa-rica-backpacking-jehovahs-witnesses/24016
Costa Rica News - Cafe Milagro, in Quepos, has become a home for some Jehovah's witnesses. The Jamaican and American women hand out pamphlets and try to make a message of God appeal to backpackers. Those who follow Krishna or Buddha compete with them for the attention of those passing by.

The reason none of them have much luck could be that backpacking is all about getting away from religious and other traditions and finding your true self. But, argued the Jamaican woman, "Why not find God on the way?"
In Costa Rica, there are backpackers in nearly every part. They wander from hostel to hostel, in search of a somewhat clean shared bathroom or the best pool or pizza. There are also a number of travelers in the country's four-star, all-inclusive hotels. Wherever the visitors go, they can find others just like themselves. Everyone searches for a WiFi hotspot together.
No matter what town you arrive in, you find someone offering the best draft beers and cheeseburgers.
Australia and Israel put out the largest numbers of backpackers, though Americans are catching on to the trend. Some put on a backpack but don't really travel like a backpacker. The truest go to rough places like India or Thailand.
All of them find the same souvenir shacks and pick up a threaded bracelet or a wooden frog instrument. These instruments are said to be of the local indigenous, in almost every country. Who knows where they're really from.
The other touristy thing everyone finds, no matter their budget, is a falafel place. It may seem weird to eat hummus and pita bread in Costa Rica, with a view of monkeys playing in the trees, but it's become such a world food now that some even say the best is not in Israel or Greece, but in the French Alps. Go figure.

The children were found dead in their respective bedrooms, and the two adults were found together in the master bedroom, Richland County Sheriff's Department spokesman Sgt. Curtis Wilson told the Charlotte Observer.

Each of the four was shot in the upper body and a handgun, the presumed murder weapon, was found near the father, Wilson said.
He said initial evidence suggested a domestic disturbance. Investigators are checking records to see if there had been any prior domestic violence calls made to the house.

The family has not been officially identified but Richland County property records show the Millers owned the house. Friends also identified the dead as the Miller family.
The children's grandmother went to check on the young family after she hadn't heard from her son for a number of days, Wilson said. She immediately called police after discovering them dead.
According to property records, the Millers bought the lovely home in the Riverwalk neighborhood in 2012.

Family friend Rachel Hinson, 25, described them as a good family and said the children were both under the age of five.
She told the Observer she had attended bible study at the Millers' home and went to Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses with them.
'It's confusing, and it's not understandable why something like that would happen,' said Hinson, who's grandmother lives near the home.

Corte de Rusia declara testigo de Jehová Folletos Extremista

MOSCOW, January 13 (RIA Novosti) – A Russian court has declared brochures produced by the Jehovah’s Witnesses to be extremist, the Prosecutor General’s Office said Monday.
The court in the southern city of Kurgan ruled that four pamphlets published by the Christian evangelical sect were discriminatory against people who did not belong to the organization.
The booklets were titled “How to Achieve Happiness in Life,” “What Can People Hope For?” “How to Develop a Close Relationship With God,” and “What You Need to Know About God and His Meaning.”

The prosecutor’s office said that analyses by linguistic experts had concluded that the brochures contained propaganda that promoted the superiority of the Jehovah’s Witnesses and denigrated other faiths as false.
Jehovah’s Witnesses claims more than 7 million followers worldwide, including more than 130,000 in Russia. The religious group frequently faces pressure from Russian authorities for its beliefs and has been banned in a number of regions, as well as in some former Soviet republics.
A Moscow court ordered the dissolution of the local branch of the Jehovah’s Witnesses in 2004 and banned its activities amid allegations that the community was brainwashing children and breaking up families through its teachings.
The European Court of Human Rights ruled that the decision was unlawful in 2010 and ordered Russia to pay 70,000 euro ($95,000) in damages.
Russian courts declared numerous publications by Jehovah’s Witnesses to be extremist in 2009.

Tiroler Oberland: 6 Personen wurden durch ihre Taufe Zeugen Jehovas

Jehovas Zeugen ziehen Bilanz für 2013: In Österreich waren 21.000 Zeugen Jehovas über 3,6 Millionen Stunden gottesdienstlich tätig.

OBERLAND.
