Jehovah Witnesses Hold District Conventions

http://nigerianobservernews.com/06092012/news/Other%20News/othernews2.html

BENIN CITY – In recognition of the importance of the heart to humans and the Bible’s reference to the figurative heart, Jehovah’s Witnesses will be holding their “Safeguard Your Heart” District Conventions beginning from this weekend to mid-December 2012.

This was contained in a press statement jointly signed by Brother Joseph Edokpayi, Weks Nwamu, Felix Opute and Isaac Eronhonse.

According to the statement, the three-day convention will hold at the Assembly Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Ikhue-Niro, Kilometer 11, Benin – Agbor road, Benin City from 7th – 9th September, 2012.

The statement further enjoined members of the public to attend any session of the entire programme which holds subsequently every weekend with morning sessions beginning at 9.20am from Friday to Sunday at the same venue.

The statement explained that Jehovah’s Witnesses believe that the figurative heart needs protection if we are to enjoy a good relationship with the Almighty God and lasting happiness in life, hence, the keynote address on Friday morning during any of the conventions: “Let God’s word Reveal the Intentions of Your Heart,” will set the note for the entire convention.

The theme for the day’s programme every Saturday of the District Conventions is: “Out of the Abundance of the Heart the Mouth Speaks” based on Matthew 12:34. There will be an ordination of new members of the faith as ministers after a discussion of the importance of Christian Baptism entitled: “Give Your Heart to Jehovah”.

The Public Talk on Sunday will be: “The Former Things Will Not ... Come up into the Heart”. The Sunday’s programmes include a drama depicting four young persons coming to grips with the Answer to the Question: “What Is True Love?”

In all, 16 district conventions are to hold in Benin City, Edo State, while 250 conventions are expected to hold in 32 cities in Nigeria.
