Extreme makeover, Jehovah's Witness edition
Thu Jun 13, 2013.
Jehovah’s Witnesses volunteers descended upon Osburn this weekend, drawing helpers from across the state of Idaho to rebuild the local Kingdom Hall.
“It will virtually be a new building,” said Robert Bower, a volunteer working in the information services department of the well-organized, large operation that aims to be done in a week’s time.
Besides Bower’s department, the Jehovah’s Witnesses have set up a mini-city of their own across from the construction site — serving three meals a day to its volunteers who are staying in RVs, tents, with friends or in local hotels.
“We try to support the community we’re in as much as possible,” Bower said.
Through the purchasing department, the volunteers have reached out to companies like Kellogg Lumber, True Value in Wallace and the Zanetti Brothers in Osburn, among others, for materials and other extra necessities as the week goes on.
The Kingdom Hall, which was built in 1961, will have a brand new roof, improvements to handicap accessibility and a new covered entranceway on the north side of the building.
There will be several improvements made on the building’s outdated interior space, including a new sound system with roving microphones for members to speak into during services. And for those hard of hearing, they can plug-in to hear the service better.
Nelson Morris, who is a brother with the Osburn Jehovah’s Witnesses congregation, says the church has been talking about this construction for nearly 12 years.
Three years ago, the Osburn church was transferred into the Idaho Regional Building Committee, speeding along the construction process.
“The RBC spearheads the project,” Morris said. “It’s kind of like a wish list — we tell them what we want and they turn that into a plan with an affordable budget,” he said.
Most of the money for the project was raised by the Osburn congregation, according to Bower.
Morris added that the church had to get permits through the city of Osburn before construction started and every time a small project is completed on the building this week, a city inspector comes to approve it.
“The city has worked marvelously with us,” Morris said. “The neighbors have been very supportive.”
Both Morris and Bower said if this project was contracted out, it would take at least one or two months to finish. The efficiency of the Jehovah’s Witnesses volunteers, though, is an impressive display of organization.
Volunteers are trained by a safety team and sign up for a wide array of departments like carpentry, plumbing, electrical, dry walling, carpeting, and even cabinet making.
The project will be 95 percent completed by Sunday when the congregation will hold a bible discussion.
The RBC recently completed work on the Pinehurst Jehovah’s Witness church in May, which Bower admitted was a much smaller project.
The Regional Building Committee has plans to work on 46 more Kingdom Halls throughout Idaho.
“It’s very emotional to members of the congregation,” Morris said. “It’s not a reality until people are on site working. And to think about all the people you see here with the traveling expenses, it’s emotional.
The Kingdom Hall in Osburn is getting an extreme makeover this week as Jehovah's Witnesses descend upon the local congregation.
Jehovah's Witnesses begin conventions

The local congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses has begun extending a special invitation to attend this year’s three-day convention presented by Jehovah’s Witnesses. The theme is “God’s Word Is Truth!” based on Jesus’ words at John 17:17. These conventions began in the United States in May, and will continue worldwide through the end of December.
The convention theme is significant because Witness families embrace the Bible as the most trustworthy guide and source of advice in these troubled times. Personal Bible study is a priority for Jehovah’s Witnesses. Each week Witness families devote an evening to Bible study and research, which they call “Family Worship.” The convention series this year will provide families and individuals with fresh new resources for family and personal Bible study. The convention program will center on the subject of truth, where you can find it, and how it can benefit individuals and families.
“We feel that the public will benefit from and enjoy the varied and practical program,” stated John Harris, spokesman for the Witnesses.
Two dramatic plays will also bring Bible stories to life. On Sunday, the intriguing talk entitled “What Is Truth?” will examine why we can trust God’s Word, the Bible. There will be two conventions at Century II Convention Center, 225 West Douglas Avenue, Wichita. The first will be in Spanish, and begins at 9:20 a.m. each day starting Friday, June 21, 2013 through Sunday, June 23. The second convention, in English, begins at 9:20 a.m. each day, starting on Friday, July 5 through Sunday, July 7, 2013. An estimated 8,000 will be in attendance for these two Bible based convention programs. There is no charge for admission, and no collection will be taken. Hundreds of volunteers complete Kingdom Hall

June 11, 2013
NINE hundred volunteers and 8000 hours of labour later, the Leeton Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses building has been completed.
The old building, located in Parkview, has been torn down, with a new one now standing in its place.
It took nine weeks from day dot to remove the former place of worship and construct a new one, with volunteers from across the state donating their time to ensure the job was finished on time.
Co-ordinator Nathan Zammit said the new hall was a testament to those that had given their time to help.
"It's quite fantastic to have all of that help from volunteers, as well as getting it done on target," he said.
"As Jehovah's Witnesses we enjoy having contact with each other, so getting the opportunity to meet new people from across the state that were all working towards one thing was really great.
"Having 900 different people volunteer their time was just amazing ... they came from places like Tamworth, the Central Coast, Merimbula and Griffith."
The former hall was constructed in 1961, with the Leeton Jehovah's Witnesses organisation believing now was a good time to reinvent the building.
The new building features a library, small kitchenette and stage, and is bigger than its predecessor.
"Our neighbours were also a really big help ... some have commended us on the work and others have helped out, which was really nice," Mr Zammit said.
The building had its final council inspection on Friday, followed by another by a Jehovah's Witnesses state committee that oversees similar projects, before being open for its first day of worship on Sunday.
An open day will be held in the coming weeks for residents to attend and take a tour through the building.

Home Park prepares for Jehovah's Witnesses
Hundreds of volunteers are to give Plymouth Argyle's Home Park ground a thorough clean-up before 7,000 worshippers arrive for a Jehovah's Witness convention.
The ground is to host three days of meetings at the faith's Westcountry convention. The theme will be 'God's Word Is Truth'.
A spokesman for the convention said: "The stadium is already clean enough for an afternoon's football, but that's a bit different from three days of family worship.
"We'll all be taking our buckets and brooms and doing our best to make the place spotless."
Convention manager Peter Harvey, from Plympton, added: "We are installing a state-of-the-art digital sound system for the weekend.
"Then we have to make sure there is adequate provision for the disabled and elderly, as well as changing facilities for young parents with babies.
"There will be a real buzz around Home Park this week."
Public invited to Jehovah's Witness conventions in Ogden
http://www.standard.net/stories/2013/06/14/public-invited-jehovah-s-witness-conventions-ogden
OGDEN — The public is invited to worship with Jehovah’s Witnesses from throughout Utah, Montana and parts of Nevada during two upcoming weekends of the Witnesses’ annual convention at the Dee Events Center, 4400 Harrison Blvd.
An English convention will be June 28-30.
A Hispanic convention will be held July 5-7.
Each day’s events will begin at 9:20 a.m. and will last until 4:50 p.m. Friday and Saturday and until 3:35 p.m. Sunday.
“People are always in search of the truth,” said Francisco Montaño, a Jehovah’s Witness elder and minister who is part of the convention publicity committee.
“You can’t really rely on humans for truth. We are humans. We make mistakes. The Bible is a place where we can find truth.”
The theme for this year’s convention, which will be the same for events throughout the country this summer, will be “God’s Word is Truth,” taken from New Testament Scripture John 17:17 in the New World translation of the Bible.
“This convention is going to emphasize how truth can be refreshing,” Montaño said. “People are always looking for good things. This will be refreshing, helping people get through the day.”
Montaño said the conventions are for anyone who is interested in participating.
“You don’t have to be a Jehovah’s Witness to attend,” he said. “Everything is free and open to the public.”
He said there will be no pressure for those who attend to join the church.
A highlight for him at each convention, he said, are live witness accounts that typically are interwoven throughout the event.
“People will talk about struggles in their lives,” he said. “They may not be removed from us, but certainly it will help us overcome.”
Germaine Herring, also an elder and a minister, said the convention will answer important life questions for those who attend.
“What source can we go to to receive correction that’s lasting?” he said. “We are all continually making adjustments.”
Both conventions will have the same presentations at the same respective times.
The theme of the day Friday is “The Truth Will Set You Free,” which is from John 8:32 in the New World translation of the Bible.
The chairman’s address that day at 9:40 a.m. will center on how one knows God’s word is truth, which is from 1 Thessalonians 2:13.
The keynote address at 11:40 a.m. Friday will be titled “A Pillar and Support of the Truth,” which will be taken from 1 Timothy 3:15.
A symposium at 2:20 p.m. will be about the various realities from which the truth can set a person free. They will include: alienation from God, a bad conscience, false beliefs, bad habits, hopelessness and bad associates.
A 3:30 p.m. drama, “Show Yourself Attentive to the Wonderful Works of God,” is based on Job 37:14.
Saturday’s events will be centered around the theme “I Shall Walk in Your Truth,” based on Psalm 86:11.
A 10:20 a.m. symposium Saturday will have the title of “Cling to What Is True!” based on Romans 12:9.
The symposium will cover being a true witness, being a true companion, extending true forgiveness and speaking the truth.
An 11:10 a.m. symposium covers the theme “Beware of Apostates!”
A baptism is set for 11:40 a.m.
A 1:50 p.m. symposium will have the theme “Utilize God’s Word as ...”
The event will discuss ways to end that sentence with water, a mirror, a sword, a light, solid food and seed.
A sound drama is planned for 3:40 p.m. Based on Matthew 14:23-34, Matthew 26:31-75 and Luke 5:1-11, it is titled “Be Faithful and Conquer Your Fears.”
Sunday’s events will follow the theme “Firmly Set in the Truth,” taken from 2 Peter 1:12.
A 10 a.m. symposium will follow the theme of “Jehovah’s Promises Always Come True!” from Joshua 23:14.
A Bible discourse based on “What Is Truth?” from John 18:38 will begin at 11:10 a.m.
A 1:40 p.m. drama, “Prepare Your Heart for the Trials Ahead,” will review the trials of Esther.

FORT WORTH – People may often hear the expression, “What is Truth?” but rarely hear “God’s Word Is Truth.” The latter phrase will be heard many times this weekend during the 2013 “God’s Word Is Truth!” district convention of Jehovah’s Witnesses. The convention is scheduled to begin Friday morning at the Fort Worth Convention Center. The convention will highlight Biblical references and passages that prove God’s word is truth. Program parts will also encourage searching out Bible truths and how Bible truths can provide a clear picture to the future of mankind. This three-day convention provides an in-depth understanding of Bible truths that will improve the quality of life today and remove misconceptions of common Bible teachings taught today. Attendees will see how understanding the truth of Bible teachings can help them to make wise decisions, improve family life, strengthen their personal relationship with God, and find true happiness. Jehovah’s Witnesses invite everyone to attend and learn more about these timely and ever important Bible topics. All three days of the convention, the morning program session will begin at 9:20 a.m. Admission is free. Conventions of Jehovah’s Witnesses are supported entirely by voluntary donations. - See more at:

http://www.kavkaz-uzel.ru/articles/225123/

Saludos.

Clifton residents attend annual convention
Friday, May 31, 2013
Each year, Jehovah's Witnesses in Clifton look forward to their annual three day district convention. The convention was held this past weekend at the Assembly Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, the former Stanley Theater in Journal Square, in Jersey City
Jay Chosy, Shaun Dew, Daniel and Kelly Santiago, Jerrold Sameth, and Jack Kelly, all from Clifton, were featured speakers at the "God's Word is Truth!" district convention of Jehovah's Witnesses.
More than 3,800 worshippers attended this special event from May 24 to 26 and heard a variety of talks, demonstrations, interviews, and three Bible dramas that all focused on the practical application of the Bible to the problems and challenges of every day life.
Daniel and Kelly Santiago participated on Friday afternoon in a drama that focused on the life of the Bible patriarch Job and how the problems he faced are similar to those that face those living in 2013. The drama emphasized that the problems can be met head on with help "from above."
A key feature of the program was the baptism of 29 new Witnesses which was held on Saturday.
On Saturday afternoon, a sound drama was presented which focused on the life and ministry of Jesus Christ and the problems he encountered and overcame successfully.
Another highlight was the full costumed Bible drama on Sunday afternoon which focused on the account of the life of Esther and Mordecai with modern day application to the lives of persons trying to serve God in the face of opposition.
The Clifton residents were featured as speakers on talks that covered family life, Bible prophecy, and the application of Bible principles in every day life.
The program will be given again through the end of August at the Assembly Hall which is located at 2932 Kennedy Blvd. in Jersey City. Admission is free and no collections are taken.

Jehovah's Witnesses invite all to attend "God's Word Is Truth!" Convention

Irving, Texas. June 3, 2013 –
Jehovah’s Witnesses have begun their annual conventions and an accompanying campaign to invite the public to attend. This year’s convention theme is ‘God’s Word Is Truth!’. In the United States this series of conventions was launched in May and will continue worldwide through the end of December.
Starting in June, this special three-day program comes to our area. There will be a total of twelve conventions, four of which will be held in Fort Worth. The first convention will be held June 14-16 at the Fort Worth Convention Center.
The convention theme this year is significant because it underscores a core family value for Jehovah’s Witnesses. Witness families embrace the Bible as the most trustworthy guide and source of advice in these troubled times. We feel that the public will likewise benefit from and enjoy the varied and practical program.
Personal Bible study is a priority for Jehovah’s Witnesses. Each week families are encouraged to devote an entire evening to Bible study and research, which they call “Family Worship.” The convention this year will provide families and individuals with fresh new resources for family and personal Bible study.
Exact dates and locations of the 2013 ‘God’s Word Is Truth!’ District Conventions can be found on the Jehovah’s Witnesses’ official Web site—jw.org.
"We warmly invite all to attend this year’s free convention."
