Approximately 2,900 people are expected to attend the three-day district convention of the Jehovah's Witnesses July 1-3 at the Bismarck Civic Center.
The theme for the convention is "Let God's Kingdom Come." The theme is based on the Lord's Prayer as written in the New Testament Book of Matthew. The convention program will examine the "model prayer" and its significance.
There is no admission fee and people from the district, which includes all of North Dakota, northern South Dakota, eastern Montana and western Minnesota, are welcome to attend.
Conventions of Jehovah's Witnesses are funded entirely by voluntary donations. All of the area's 41 congregations of Jehovah's Witnesses will support distributing printed invitations to the convention.
Throughout the United States, 381 conventions are held in 98 cities from late May through mid-September. Worldwide, there are more than 7.5 million Witnesses in more than 107,000 congregations.
The public is invited to attend any session or the entire program. The morning sessions begin at 9:20 a.m. each day. On July 1, the afternoon session will begin at 1:50 p.m. On July 2, the afternoon session will begin at 1:35 p.m. On July 3, the afternoon session will begin at 1:30 p.m.
Daily themes will be based on passages of scripture, including Matt. 4:17, Matt. 6:33 and 2 Peter 1:11.
On July 1, the keynote address is "Who Are Preaching the Good News of the Kingdom?" On July 2, the theme is "Keep On Seeking First the Kingdom and His Righteousness." On July 3, the theme is "There Will Be Richly Supplied to You the Entrance Into the Everlasting Kingdom."
That afternoon, a full-costume drama will be presented, based on the Genesis story of Joseph, son of Jacob.
